- Technician Licence Application -
  • Motor Vehicle Identification Number (MVID): this is a 9 digit number found near the barcode on your Alberta Driver’s Licence. If you do not have or cannot find your MVID, please contact our office using the contact information below.
  • A copy of your journeyman certificate(s)*
  • A criminal record check obtained within the last 90 days*
  • The required Vehicle Inspection Manual(s): Automotive & Light Truck, Commercial and/or Motorcycle. You may download them here: https://www.alberta.ca/vehicle-inspection-program-manuals.
*IMPORTANT – Copies of your journeyman certificate(s) and your criminal record check must be sent to our office before your technician application will be reviewed and approved. Your application will be returned to you via email if these documents are not received within 10 business days.
These documents can be sent either by email at tec.adminvip@gov.ab.ca, include “Application Documents” and your last name in the subject line.
